Who or what is Riverside Rotary??
We are a members club forming part of the Rotary International family. A mixed group of ordinary local people with members of all ages living around the Maidstone area and beyond. We meet twice per month to discuss and plan our activities in an informal atmosphere and we run a range of community service, fund-raising and social events throughout the year. Our members are from a wide range of backgrounds, trades and professions.  But we all have two things in common: wanting to help and support those less fortunate than ourselves and having fun whilst doing so.

Anyone wishing to join us at one of our meetings will be welcome.

               Coming up in the spring...

Our annual Swim Relay event will be taking place on Sunday 22nd March 2026.

We've raised over £42000 over the last 2 events and are hoping to push that up to over £60000 in March.  It's a great, fun day where swimmers of all ability can take part and raise funds for their favourite good cause whilst supporting Demelza and the Air Ambulance along the way.

The website for 2026 is now live and teams are booking in already so have a look at the website here to find out more and to enter your team.

Tommy Ride to Ypres 2026

Over two days, Clive and Richard from Maidstone Riverside Rotary will be cycling from RBVE’s village in Aylesford, Kent to the poignant battlefields of Ypres, Belgium, the final resting place of thousands who gave everything for our freedom. We’ll finish at the Menin Gate and attend The Last Post ceremony.
We are doing it in support of Royal British Veterans Enterprise, a charity that provides homes, jobs, and vital support to veterans and their families, many of whom are living with life-changing injuries, PTSD, & the long-term effects of service.  Click here or in the image below to support Clive & Richard and donate to this wonderful charity.

We're having a busy year!!! As well as our regular meetings, we've recently :
  • Visited Denga Primary School in Zimbabwe to provide the children with books.  Vice President Catherine and Rotarian Zelda went there in person.
  • Held our Pig Racing evening in aid of Kent & Sussex Air ambulance.  This was great fun with members, guests and a range of toy pigs combining to raise over £1400.
  • Run our annual Bikes and Tools for Africa day collecting disused bikes and tools in conjunction with Lockmeadow Market.  Nearly 100 bikes donated this year which was a great result.  Thank you to everyone who donated.
  • Planted 1000 Crocus bulbs in Loose in support of the End Polio Now campaign .  We're hoping for a really colourful display in the Spring.
  • Filled shoe boxes of christmas gifts to be sent to disadvantaged children and families in Eastern Europe.
  • Started planning for our 2026 Swim Relay event.  We raised over £16500 for Demelza and other local charities and good causes this year.  In 2026 we're adding Kent, Surrey & Sussex Air Ambulance as a main charity alongside Demelza and are hoping for a bumper event! The event will be held on Sunday 22nd March and the website is now live so you can read all about it, enter your team and make donations here.
